Why carbon dioxide emissions should be reduced?

Water vapor, methane, nitrous oxide, and F-gases also cause global warming. Water vapor is not produced because of human activity, but the emissions of the other gases are due to human activity. We must reduce emissions of these gases as well. Particularly, methane leakages occurring in the fossil industry have to be stopped.

However, carbon dioxide is the main culprit of global warming. The reason is that carbon dioxide sticks around. Water vapor stays in the atmosphere for ten days, and methane for about a decade. Methane gets converted to carbon dioxide. In contrast, carbon dioxide remains in the atmosphere for up to 10,000 years. As per one estimate, 40% of carbon dioxide will stay in the atmosphere for 100 years, 20% for 1000 years, and 10% for 10,000 years. That means the carbon dioxide emissions we release today will affect the future of the climate for our children and grandchildren.

The following graphs show the correlation between atmospheric carbon dioxide, global temperature, and sea-level rise for the past 420,000 years. It is evident that the carbon dioxide present causes temperature and sea-level rise. Comments are welcome.
