Do people believe in Scientific studies?

Scientific studies are essential in the decision-making process for future planning and policy-making. But do people believe in scientific studies? I wish to find an answer to this question by understanding people's responses to the climate crisis. Scientists have been warning about the climate crisis for more than four decades. Carl Segan testified to the US Congress in 1985, stating, "If we don't do the right thing now, there are very serious problems that our children and grandchildren will have to face." However, until the last few years, many people were in denial mode. Thirty thousand scientific studies and the IPCC reports were not convincing. People started acknowledging climate change only when they witnessed extreme climate events such as floods, droughts, heat waves, and forest fires in the past two years. However, most of the population still does not believe that it is an existential crisis.

Is my observation correct? If so, what do you think should be done about it?

We at Hyurja (https://www.hyurja.com/) focus on technology development to mitigate climate change. We would happily interact with individuals committed to overcoming the climate crisis.
